What we repair

Pillar repairs we take on.

Damaged bricks

Spalled, cracked or impact-damaged bricks are cut out and replaced, matched to the existing pillar in size, colour and texture as closely as possible.

Deteriorating mortar

Crumbling or missing joints are raked out and repointed with a suitable mortar and joint finish to complement the existing brickwork.

Rebuilt sections

Where damage runs through part of the pillar, the affected section is carefully taken down and rebuilt to the original pattern.

Pillar caps

Loose, cracked or missing caps let water into the pillar beneath. We rebed or replace pillar caps so the top is secure and sheds water properly.

Gate & entrance pillars

Pillars at driveways and garden entrances take knocks from vehicles and gates. We repair the damage and make good the surrounding brickwork.

Impact damage

A pillar clipped by a car or delivery vehicle is a common repair. Send photos and we'll assess whether a localised repair is suitable.

Scope & limitations

What we take on — and don't.

  • Accessible, non-structural pillar repairs are the focus of this service.
  • Pillars with significant lean or movement, structural repairs and work at height are outside the initial service.
  • Most repairs we take on are completed in 1–2 days, subject to assessment of the individual job.
No surprises

What affects the cost.

Every repair is quoted individually in writing before work is booked. The things that most affect the price of a pillar repair are:

  • How much of the pillar is damaged
  • Whether the cap needs rebedding or replacing
  • Matching bricks to the existing pillar
  • Access around the pillar, including gates and planting
From enquiry to a clear plan

Getting started is simple.

1

Describe the repair

Share your postcode, what needs attention and a rough idea of the size. Photos help when we discuss the job.

2

Agree the details

We discuss suitability, access and materials. If a visit is needed, we agree a time and turn up. We also agree when you’ll receive your written quote.

3

Book the work

Once the scope and price are agreed, we arrange a suitable date and explain what to expect.

A few useful answers

Brick pillar questions.

Can you repair a pillar without rebuilding it?

Often, yes. Where the damage is limited to individual bricks, deteriorating mortar or a loose cap, we replace bricks, repoint joints and rebed or replace the cap rather than rebuilding the whole pillar.

My gate pillar has been clipped by a car — is that repairable?

Impact damage to gate pillars is a common repair. Send photos and we'll assess whether a localised repair is suitable or whether the damage goes deeper.

Will new bricks match the rest of the pillar?

We match size, colour and texture as closely as possible and discuss the expected match beforehand. Weathering and brick availability mean a perfect visual match cannot always be achieved, and we'll be honest about that first.

How long does a pillar repair take?

Most pillar repairs we take on are completed in 1–2 days, subject to assessment of the individual job — the extent of the damage, access and materials all affect the time needed.

Is there anything you don't take on?

Structural repairs, work at height and pillars with significant movement or lean are outside the initial service. If your pillar shows movement, we'll explain what kind of assessment it needs rather than offer an unsuitable repair.
